It is not by chance that Zakynthos, “The Flower of the Levante”, is the land which gave birth to some of the greatest minds in Greek history, who were inspired to create by the peace and tranquility which our island offers.

This is also the island where the Caretta Caretta sea turtle finds refuge in order to give birth. Upon a green hill at Tragaki, at the point known as “Kefalonitis”, the Pomoni- Soili family has created beautiful, welcoming, furnished houses, with great care and love, in harmony with the Zakynthian hospitality offered by the beauty of the endless green landscape combined with the deep blue Ionian Sea.

History

This hill has been the property of the Pomoni-Soili family for the past four generations.
From the time, almost ten decades ago, when Petros Pomonis bought this hill and built a house for himself and his family there.
In the devastating earthquake of 1953 the house, as well as the family church on the site, were brought to the ground, though by this time the hill had passed into the hands of his son, Georgis.

For years the hill remained without life, until Georgis sons, Petros and Vassilis, decided to start rebuilding, creating facilities which meet modern needs, at the same time respecting the past! With personal labour and great zeal they built the new houses and also re-erected the family chapel, dedicated to St. George.

All the houses can accommodate 2 to 4 persons, some 2 to 6 persons, and each house is completely independent of the other. From the balconies of the houses, it is easy to lose oneself in the view offered by the blue of the sea and the green of the endless olive groves which surround the hill. At a distance of 4 km from the hill lies the organized beach of Ampoula with the characteristic crystal clear waters.

A great religious celebration which is important for its ceremonial in Zakynthos (Zante), is Easter.
Easter in Zakynthos is celebrated with great formality and many preparations. For the entire Holy week the feelings and the deep emotion for the Holy Passion is universal. The crucifixion, which according to the scriptures on the noon of Good Friday, dresses the whole Island in grief. The priests in simple black vestments starting from the church of Saint Nicholas of Molos, carry the Crucifix around the streets of the city. Black cloths hang from the balconies and the bells are silent. The Litany of the Crucifix ends at Solomos square after having followed the same itinerary which is followed each year...more
