| Agios Sostis (Cameo) |

The most pictresque point in the gulf of Laganas is the pine-cladded isle of Agios Sostis. This privately-owned small isle is located in the left side of Laganas Gulf. Until 1633 it was linked to the mainland of Laganas, until it was separated by an earthquake. Today during the summertime the island is connected with the mainland with a large wooden bridge and operates as a café and nightclub. Undeniably it is one of the most picturesque points of the island.

According to the tradition, Christianity was propagated in Zakynthos (Zante), around 34 AD from Maria Magdalini that debarked in the island to her way to Rome. Another tradition speaks for Saint Veatriki, but unfortunately there is no further information that may confirm this.

The church of Virgin Keriotissa is a real ornament, not only for the village of Keri but for the whole island. The initial form of the church is unknown to us. Today`s building has been renovated in 1745. This date is incised above the southern entry of the church. The monastery has a beautiful panoramic view of the village Lagopodo, and is very close to the church of Saint Mavra. Established in 1962 by the Archimandrite Chrysostomos Gelbesis, spiritual father to this day of the hermitage. In the monastery there are 17 Nuns led by the Abbess Magdalene Bakea.
