We have just came back from Zakynthos (Louis Royal Palace Vasilikos), the Island is beautiful, the resort was o.k, but I would avoid going all inclusive as the people of Zakynthos are not only friendly and welcoming, but their prices are competitive and they know the Island better than many of the travel agents, You can get an apartment for 2 ... more

The whole complex was clean and tidy but the beach was a slight let down being unkempt. It was also very over crowded and everyone had to pay 8 euros for two beds and a shade, all inclusive or not. The beach when you get there is great. It is safe for the kids, you can go quite far out before it gets to deep. There is a bar there serving food and drink at lunch times so it saves you having to go back up to the hotel for lunch.The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. The resort was very clean.The beach was small and found it hard to get a decent spot, as the Germans had got there first, suprise suprise!However was nice enough to spend some time there dipping in and out of the water. Wow! This has been one of the best holidays in Greece we've had!! Superb place for a young fmaily and the beaches are simply outstanding. Vasilikos has to be the best stay on the island and although we found little to do in the evenings it simply meant we could wake up earlier to spend more time on the beach. lovely. ... more

The trip from the hotel down to the beach was managed by a long set of metal stairs but there was also a lift available if you were prepared to wait for 5-10 minutes. Vasilikoss is the place to go if you want a very quiet holiday. Some excellent beaches within a 5 - 10 minute drive but you do need a car to see the island. Great Greek food, our favourite food was at Babis next to the village school and for a real Greek bar try Barba Nikos Cafι on the road toward the Louis hotels just a few minutes walk away from ... more

If you come with kids then go to Vassilikos as it is no doubt the best part - a bit isolated but nice and quiet with no yobs. The beach was pretty awful, dirty fag ends everywhere rubbish left lying around - even all inc have to pay for sunbeds £7 a day each. This is the second time we've been to Vasilikos in Zakynthos and we can't wait to go again!The beaches are some of the best on the island, quiet with long stretches of golden sand.
