Kalmaki beach is a must to do while in Zante. If you hire a pedalo for 10 euro you will see the logger head turtles which is an amazing site to see. Due to the turtles you cannot go out onto the beach at night as they come up onto the beach to lay thier eggs. When you go down in the morning you can see where the conservation groups have put protective wooden frames over the nest sites. Due to the turtles endangered status the beach is not comed so it does have seaweed pods, sticks, twigs and grass poking through so it isnt the most sttractive beach. Do not pay for a turtle cruise as you will see more by snorkling or hiring a pedalo - you will be suprised how big they are! After your turtle spotting there is a great little hut by the beach that sells the most amazing baguettes EVER! Try the mexican tuna it is really good. They are reasonably priced too which is a nice change from the slop they served at the exoticas lunch bar at a higher price. Lovely people running it aswel and look out for thier unusual pet that waddles around too.
