Generally fairly tacky, aimed at British or Irish, with lots of bars with non-stop football on large TVs. Well back from the beach, which is closed in the evenings to protect the turtles. Very good Italian restaurant is Buon Amici. Michaelos (5 mins back from the main street) excellent Greek food - lots of Greek customers, which is a good indicator. Other good restaurants were Dias, Hera, Tesoros and Zepos (neaar the beach). Many serve good and cheap breakfasts, but we were disappointed with Mermaids - cooked breakfasts were cold. Not impressed with Pandesia - our hotel had a 10% discount card, which the staff ignored. Staff rude and service slow at Zakintos and Escape, and Zakintos added extra for credit cards. Tours from Friends cheaper than from tour reps. Avoid the cruise round the island - long and boring.
