 In addition to having some of the most beautiful and natural countryside on the island, the Vassilikos peninsula has some of the finest sandy beaches in the Ionian. The area has not been subjected to the ravages of mass tourism and is a great place to go to if you enjoy a quieter holiday in beautiful natural surroundings. There are plenty tavernas and mini-markets conveniently dotted along roads and you will also come across the occasional beach taverna when walking along the soft golden sands of Plaka or the lovely endless Ionian beach which is backed by sand dunes and is completely natural. Of course there is still plenty to do if you want to seek it out, in St Nicholas you will find the islands watersports centre with a full range of activities, and Argassi will provide a comprehensive range of shops, restaurants and n | |
