It would appear that the local population have little or no pride in their island,using the beach as just another road/rubbish dump It improves as you travel from Laganas to Kalamaki,but the volunteers who are helping to save the nesting beach of the loggerhead turtles are fighting a losing battle.We did not sample the evening entertainment in Laganas as we were staying at an all-inclusive hotel on the outskirts. Before travelling to Zakynthos people should also consider the fact that it is in an earthquake zone.
