 Just returned from our first visit to Zante. Having visited several other Greek Islands over the years, unfortunately Zante has been the one island to disappoint us.
On the plus side it is just as beautiful as the other islands, with secluded bays and magnificent scenery and some great roads through the pine forests in the mountains, the smell of the pine is so refreshing. Also the roads do appear to be in better condition than on some of the other islands. If you stay away from the popular resorts - Laganas for example (although Southend is nearer and cheaper if you like that sort of thing!) then there are some pretty places in which to stay. The mountain villages are a must to visit, such as Lithakia, Maries, Kilomenia, as this is where you experience real Greece where the locals set up stalls outside the |
