The beaches of Kalamacki are a protected area because of the loggerhead turtles nesting sites, hence they are very scruffy and unappealing. sunbeds 7 euros a day,perched right on the edge of the beach,turtle police watching you every move,during a 2 week break went the beach twice. overall Zante/Zakinthos has a 3rd world/colonial type feel to it, half a million tourists a year wheres all the money go ?, not in the infastructure roads, airports very poor.,having to put you toilet paper in a bin ! The whole atmosphere is a like a euro vampire sucking your wallet dry to husk.
