Weve just returned today from a two week holiday at alykanas village and what a nice hotel it was. First week temperature was hitting 40. Second week was much more bearable even though we had 3 days of rain and i mean torrential rain. My daughter loved going to kids club which i must say that they do an excellent job with the kids and it gave us a couple of hours of peace too lol. Its right what everybody says about the towels situation though. You need to be downstairs by 8 30 to get a sunbed. Even though its a beautiful hotel set in gorgeous surrondings the hotel staff are something to be desired. Reception staff and restaurant staff are quite rood with no people skills whatsoever. Dillema bar is a nice place to go for a drink. We went there to watch the last 3 england matches and the atmosphere was great. ( not so great on the england germany game though). For great greek food i would recommend apollo restaurant but if your looking for a good old english dish then go to cosy corner. They do the best cottage pie and amazing breakkies. Zues bar is a nice place to go on a night for a drink too. I have to say that i thought the lemon tree was over rated. Nice place just a shame about the food. Really wasnt the best. We walked into alykes a few times which is also nice and slighty a bigger resort. What ever you do do not book any excursions through thomsons. We booked all of ours through special offer tours just a bit futher down from bonkers bar on the right. It would have cost us 36 euros each to do the shipreck tour. We got it for 18 euros each for exactly tha same thing. We did quite a few excursions through them. First one was the water park then we went to the shipreck then it was zante town by night which i highly reccommend. What a beautful cosmopolitan town. Completey different to the usual beach resort. We also did the the turtle trek where they take u on a boat to look for turtles. We saw 3. Then you get to jump off the boat and swim in the sea to the shore and you can swin througha little cave. If you only do one excursion it must be the shipreck. Its one of the most breathtaking sights i have ever seen and i have travelled quite a lot. All in all a very nice holiday and will most probably visit again some day.
