Some things I'd read about Kalamaki were making me regret my decision to go there. But its actually a really nice place.

Zakynthos
The airport is tiny - but then its quite a small island. As long as you aren't travelling on the busiest day of the week its fine.
The island is quite Brit.-friendly to put it mildly, most people in the service industry speak English well. Menus are in English or Greek and English - whereas in other places in Greece they also have menus in German, Italian and Dutch etc
Zankynthos town made a pleasant afternoon out, but I wasn't that impressed with the shops

Kalamaki
I don't like the sea much so I didn't visit the beach, preferring the pool, but I heard it was very nice.
