The beach was clean but became very overcrowded during the first week. The trip from the hotel down to the beach was managed by a long set of metal stairs but there was also a lift available if you were prepared to wait for 5-10 minutes. Once outside the hotel complex, the people seemed to undergo something of a metamorphosis. By and large they were unsmiling and almost curt and did not seem to give a damn; they often gave the impression that the customer was nothing but a nuisance and that they could not wait to see the back of them. What seemed to interest them most was the euro with few concessions to the concept of service or value for money. (In a numbers of the bars we visited, always only once, the cost of drinks was exorbitant. At a number of these bars we were being asked to pay up to 3. | |
