We had a holiday in Laganas this year to get away from lager louts in England(what is wrong with them?) and managed to do so for the most part of the holiday. I agree there is not much 'Greekness' around in the tourist areas these days, apart from maybe Athens, probably due to the fact that unfortunately most tourists do not want to savour the culture of the country. Those who do get out of the centre and 'go Greek' - and the Greeks admire this. We had a brilliant time, clean accommodation, friendly locals, great food, great bouzouki and value for money trips. On the down side, I was shocked that tourist areas are building up on the turtle beaches - has this something to do with the fact that the economy would suffer (E.U. and all that) if the Greeks didn't pander to the needs of tourists. Wasn't impressed wit | |
